Decided to add these to the basket when ordering another batch of my go to Jazz III's There's a lot to like about them. Grip feels great and anyone already accustomed to Jazz III's will find they are essentially the same size, but with a more aggressive point and bevel. That point looks like such a small difference, but results in excellent single note clarity due to a much sharper attack and release. Switching back and forth between these and Jazz III and it's a pretty significant difference. I'm only a few hours in and the only downside is that extra bite means they tend to dig in a bit too much when playing wide chords. Still, most of us have probably been there when stepping up the pick gauges, so definitely going to stay with them to get accustomed as I suspect I might have just found my new favourite.
I've tried many plecs over the past two years, trying to find that perfect one that did everything I needed. I found it with the The Precision Pick MINI. It does take a little while to get used to such a sharp tip after having used the JD Jazz III mini which is a little rounder. The Precision Pick MINI are better plecs, no question, the shaped edge is a game changer and the little mini size feels tight and secure. I wish Dan's Guitar Store would produce the Premium Precision Pick 2.00m (chrystal blue colour) in a mini size, I bought 5 of these as well and they are fabulous but a little too big for my tastes, although I will be using them. Both these pecs have a solid grip and do move around in your hand. I would strongly advise you try these if you are into trying a sharper/shaped/quality plec.
I've used one of these picks for hours of practicing at home, and 2 three-hour live gigs. Used for shred-solos and sparse-strumming. Still pointy after all that. Extraordinary. My new favourite picks. The beveled edges help with the pointiness while keeping the pick relatively thick. And when I drop them on a dark stage the bright colour makes them easier to find than my darker Jazz IIIs, though they are still around the same size and shape as those. My naturally dry fingertip skin prevents the grippy surface being as grippy as I'd like, hence it being dropped on stage. If there was a way to make this more grippy it would be prefect, maybe with deeper grooves, or more prominent protruding grip points.
Quite a bit smaller and thicker than I have been using but wanted to try something different as I destroy my usual cheap plectrums in no time due to my weird style of fast chugging using the edge of the plectrum! These are great. Took a little bit of getting use to but after 10 mins I was well happy. The edges are chamfered/bevelled? Not sure which term is best so will say 'engineered'. Not just a flat bit of cut out credit card. Nice vibrant colour so easy to find when I drop on the floor or leave in random places around the house. Have used one for a few hours today and it is still in good shape and quite grippy with the embossed face. Recommend giving them a try.
After many years I was only buying Dunlop Jazz III for guitar solo and rithm playing I gave a try to these and I won't come back! Pretty expensive but it's worth they are absolutely perfect for precision and attack. I'm using these on Gibson LP, Stratocaster, Ibanez and LTD, Precision Bass and I recently had a good experience also playing an acoustic guitar I would also say the spike last long, I'm still using the first one since I bought it months ago. I will buy more for sure! update...I did try different picks tickness for all my guitars and strings which are from 00.8 to 0.11 and I can confirm this company has the best picks ever!! I'm in love !
